APSC CCE Exam 2026
The Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) has released the official notification for the Combined Competitive (Main) Examination 2025 on 31 July 2026. This notification is a continuation of Advt. No. 01/2026 dated 10 April 2026. This examination recruits candidates for Assam Civil Services, Assam Police Services, and other allied services in the state. There are currently 78 open positions in 11 different services and positions.
The APSC CCE is one of the toughest state-level competitive exams in Assam. It follows a three-stage selection process: Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and Personal Interview. This exam is taken by thousands of people each year to compete for a limited number of civil service positions.
The online application window for the Main Examination opens on 4 August 2026 (12:00 Noon) and closes on 24 August 2026 (5:00 PM), and the last date for fee payment is 26 August 2026 (5:00 PM). On October 9, 10, and 11 of 2026, the Commission will hold the Main Examination in Guwahati in two shifts on each day.

- Language Proficiency: Must be able to speak Assamese or any other official/associate official language of the state, or tribal languages of Assam.
- Application Fee: ₹297.20/- for General candidates; ₹197.20/- for OBC/MOBC; and ₹47.20/- processing fee for SC/ST, BPL, PwBD, and Women candidates.
APSC CCE Main Exam Schedule 2026
The Main Examination runs over three consecutive days with two papers each day. The forenoon session is from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and the afternoon session is from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM.

APSC CCE Main Exam Pattern
The Main Examination has six descriptive papers of 250 marks each, adding up to 1500 marks. Every paper is of 3 hours’ duration, and there are no optional subjects. Answers can be written in English or Assamese.

Stages of the APSC CCE Exam
The selection process comprises three distinct successive stages:
Stage 1: Preliminary Examination
An objective-type screening test consisting of two papers (GS I & GS II) of 200 marks each (Total 400 marks). Marks in this round serve only to shortlist candidates for the Main Exam.
Stage 2: Main Written Examination
A descriptive conventional examination containing six core papers worth 250 marks each, totaling 1500 marks.
Stage 3: Personal Interview
A personality assessment interview carrying 180 marks conducted in Guwahati.
Final Selection: The final merit ranking list is compiled by aggregating scores from the Main Written Examination (1500 marks) and the Personal Interview (180 marks) for a total out of 1680 marks.
How to Apply for the APSC CCE Exam?
Eligible candidates can submit their Main Examination applications online through the official portal. Follow these steps:
- Visit the official recruitment portal of APSC at apscrecruitment.in.
- Complete One-Time Registration (OTR) if you are a first-time user, or log in with your credentials.
- Fill out all mandatory personal and educational details accurately.
- Upload your passport-size photograph (50 KB – 200 KB) and signature (50 KB – 200 KB) in the prescribed format.
- Preview your application carefully before final submission.
- Pay the examination fee online using Net Banking, Debit/Credit Card, or UPI, and save the payment acknowledgement receipt.
