A total of 7,680 regular vacancies (along with backlog vacancies) have been announced across multiple States and UTs. SBI Clerk (Junior Associate) 2026 Notification Overview

State Bank of India conducts the Junior Associate examination annually to recruit clerical staff for customer support, sales, banking advisory, and allied operations. Candidates can apply for vacancies in only one State/UT and must be proficient in the opted local language of that specific state.

The selection process comprises a two-tier online examination (Preliminary & Main Examination) followed by a Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT) for qualified candidates prior to appointment.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Age Limit (As on 01.04.2026):

  • Candidates must be between 20 years and 28 years of age (born not earlier than 02.04.1998 and not later than 01.04.2006, both days inclusive).
  • Upper Age Relaxation:
    • SC / ST: 5 years
    • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years
    • PwBD (General/EWS): 10 years
    • PwBD (OBC): 13 years
    • PwBD (SC/ST): 15 years
    • Ex-Servicemen / Disabled Ex-Servicemen: Actual military service + 3 years (8 years for SC/ST DXS), max up to 50 years.
    • Widows, Divorced women, judicially separated women (not remarried): 7 years (Max 35 yrs for Gen/EWS, 38 yrs for OBC, 40 yrs for SC/ST).
    • Trained Apprentices of SBI: 1 year (GEN/EWS), 4 years (OBC), 6 years (SC/ST), up to 16 years for PwBD SC/ST.

2. Educational Qualification (As on 31.12.2026):

  • Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University or any equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government.
  • Candidates in the final year/semester of graduation are also eligible to apply provisionally, provided they produce proof of having passed on or before 31.12.2026.
  • Matriculate Ex-Servicemen with Indian Army Special Certificate of Education (or Navy/Air Force equivalent) having at least 15 years of armed forces service are also eligible.

Selection Process & Examination Pattern

The selection process consists of Phase-I (Preliminary Exam), Phase-II (Main Exam), and Phase-III (Local Language Proficiency Test).

Phase-III: Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT)

Candidates who have studied the specified opted local language in 10th or 12th standard (evidenced via mark sheet) are exempt. Others must clear the objective, subjective, and verbal test of the opted local language before final appointment.


Pay Scale & Emoluments

Pay Scale: ₹24050-1340/3-28070-1650/3-33020-2000/4-41020-2340/7-57400-4400/1-61800-2680/1-64480.

The starting basic pay is ₹26,730/- (₹24,050/- plus two advance increments admissible to graduates). Total starting emoluments at metro locations like Mumbai will be approximately ₹46,000/- per month inclusive of D.A., HRA, and other allowances.
