NIT Agartala Physics Department Recruitment 2026

The Department of Physics at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Agartala has released two separate engagement notifications for academic and research positions.

The first advertisement invites eligible Ph.D. holders for a walk-in interview for temporary engagement as Guest Faculty in Physics. The second advertisement (Advt. No. F.NITA.14(Physics)/Project 2016/ANRF/JRF) invites applications for 01 temporary position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) / Project Associate-I for an Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) sponsored research project titled “Development of a Machine Learning Assisted Wearable Sensor for Real-Time Detection of Acetone in Ear Canal for Diabetes Monitoring”.


1. Guest Faculty (Physics) – Details & Walk-in Schedule

NIT Agartala is conducting a walk-in interview for the engagement of Guest Faculty in the Department of Physics on a purely temporary basis.

  • Essential Qualification: Ph.D. in Physics with a First-Class Master’s degree in Physics.
  • Duties: Teaching, question paper setting, answer script evaluation, and related academic duties.
  • Remuneration: As per institute norms.
  • CV Submission Deadline: Interested candidates must submit their CV with academic details to the HOD, Department of Physics by email at hodphysicsnitagartala@gmail.com on or before 08/08/2026.
  • Interview Date & Time: 10 August 2026 at 11:00 AM.

Note for Guest Faculty Walk-in: Candidates must bring their original certificates/documents, self-attested photocopies, an application on plain paper, and a comprehensive bio-data bearing a recent photograph on the day of the interview. No TA/DA will be paid.

2. JRF / Project Associate-I – Details & Eligibility

Applications are invited for one (01) position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) / Project Associate-I under an ANRF-funded project led by Principal Investigator Dr. Suvra Prakash Mondal.

Project Title Development of a Machine Learning Assisted Wearable Sensor for Real-Time Detection of Acetone in Ear Canal for Diabetes Monitoring
Funding Agency Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF)
Project Duration 36 Months (co-terminus with the project)
Monthly Emoluments (i) ₹37,000/- per month for scholars with GATE / NET qualification.
(ii) ₹30,000/- per month for scholars without GATE / NET qualification.
Essential Qualification M.Sc in Physics / Applied Physics / BS-MS in Physics / BT-MT in Engineering Physics / M.Sc or M.Tech in Nanotechnology / Material Science.
Desirable Experience Experience in the synthesis of nanomaterials and sensors.

Ph.D. Registration Opportunity: Candidates selected for the JRF position will have the option to register for the Ph.D. program in the Department of Physics at NIT Agartala, subject to fulfilling the institute’s Ph.D. eligibility rules.
