IBPS PO Recruitment 2026
The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection released the 16th edition of the IBPS PO/MT notification on 30 June 2026. This recruitment is for Probationary Officers and Management Trainees in 11 public sector banks. A total of 6,715 vacancies have been announced this year, which is about 1,500 more than last year. Eligible candidates can apply online from 1 July 2026 to 21 July 2026 through the official IBPS website.
The IBPS PO exam has been conducted every year since 2011. Selection takes place in three stages: Preliminary Exam, Main Exam, and Interview. Candidates who clear all three stages are provisionally allotted to one of the 11 participating banks based on their merit and bank preference. Selection Process of IBPS PO Recruitment 2026
The selection process comprises three successive stages as described below:
Preliminary Exam
The Preliminary Exam is a qualifying round with three sections and 100 questions for 100 marks. Each section has a time limit of 20 minutes. For each wrong answer, 0.25 marks are deducted. Candidates must clear both the sectional cut-off and the overall cut-off to move to the next stage. The marks scored in the Preliminary Exam are not counted in the final merit list.
Main Exam
The Main Exam carries more weight this year. IBPS has changed the pattern to 170 questions for 200 marks in the objective paper. Compared to previous years, more marks have been shifted from Quantitative Aptitude to Reasoning Ability. A separate Descriptive Paper of 25 marks tests English writing through an essay and a letter. Only candidates who clear the objective cut-off will have their descriptive paper checked.
Interview & Final Allotment
Candidates who qualify the Main Exam will appear for a Personality Test followed by a face-to-face Interview worth 100 marks. The minimum qualifying mark is 40% for General category candidates and 35% for SC, ST, OBC, and PwBD candidates. The final merit list is prepared by combining Main Exam and Interview scores in an 80:20 ratio.

- Upload your scanned photograph, signature, left thumb impression, and handwritten declaration as per the specified size and format.
- Fill in your personal, educational, and category details carefully, and select your bank preference order.
- Pay the application fee online and submit the form. Download the confirmation page and save a printout for future reference.
