Cotton University PG Admission 2026

Cotton University offers various postgraduate programs. The admission portal opened on 12 June 2026, and the last date for online registration is 21 June 2026. Candidates must complete and submit their forms with payment before 22 June 2026 at 11 PM.

Admission to most programs is through the Cotton Post-Graduate Entrance Examination (CPGEE-2026). This is a multiple-choice written test, likely to be held in the first week of July 2026. The only exception is the MSc in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (MBBT), where 10 Open Category seats are filled through GAT-B 2026 scores. All candidates, including Cotton University graduates, must pay an application fee of ₹1,200 during registration.

Note: Cotton University keeps 50% of seats for Cotton University graduates of the 2025 or 2026 batch in all programs except MCom, MLISc, and LLM. All seats in MCom, MLISc, and LLM are open to all candidates.

Eligibility Criteria for Cotton University PG Admission 2026

The minimum requirement for all postgraduate programs is a Bachelor’s Degree of at least 3 years (or 6 semesters) from a recognized university. Candidates who are appearing for their final exam in 2026 can also apply. For the LLM program, the minimum requirement is an LLB Degree.

Gap in Study: Candidates who have a study gap of more than 3 years, meaning those who passed their qualifying exam before 2023, cannot apply. However, this rule does not apply to the LLM program.

Admission Fee at the Time of Joining

The following fees must be paid when taking admission to the first semester for the academic year 2026-27. Please check the official website for the exact amounts when they are announced.

Reservation Policy

The reservation rules of the Government of Assam apply to both Cotton Graduate seats and Open Category seats. However, this does not apply to the 10 DBT-sponsored MBBT seats in the Open Category. For these seats, the reservation rules of the Government of India under DBT will apply.

5% of seats are reserved for Differently Abled (PWD) candidates as per Government of Assam rules. Candidates in this category must appear in person before a Board of Medical Experts on a date that will be announced by the Office of the Director of Students’ Welfare, Cotton University.

A few seats are also available under the Extra and Co-Curricular (EC) Quota for students with outstanding achievements in Sports, Cultural activities, NCC, NSS, Scouts and Guides, etc. Caste or Tribe certificates from other states are not accepted. Only certificates issued by the Competent Authority under the Government of Assam are valid.

How to Apply for Cotton University PG Admission 2026?

  1. First, go to the Important Links section below and click on the Application Form link to open the official Cotton University admission portal.
  2. Then, register using your valid email ID and mobile number. Complete the one-time registration before 21 June 2026 at 11:00 PM.
  3. After registration, log in with your details and fill in the online application form carefully.
  4. Follow the instructions shown on the screen. Upload the required documents including your photograph, signature, and relevant certificates as mentioned.
  5. Next, pay the application fee of ₹1,200 online through the portal. Save the payment receipt for your records.
  6. Finally, submit the completed application form before 22 June 2026 at 11:00 PM. Take a printout of the submitted form for future use.

Note: You cannot submit your application offline. If you want to apply for more than one postgraduate program, you must fill out a separate application form for each program. You must also pay the ₹1,200 fee separately for each application. If the exam dates or timings clash because you applied for multiple programs, the CPGEE-2026 schedule will not be changed for you.
