Assam Navodaya Admission

The official notice of the selection test for the upcoming Navodaya Admission 2027-28 for Class VI has been published by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS). For this selection test, known as the JNVST (Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test), students who want to attend Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) must apply online. Annually, NVS conducts JNVST to identify and select deserving students for admission into Class VI. The Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, which were established by the Indian government, provide a variety of services with the intention of assisting deserving students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds in realizing their academic aspirations.

Eligibility Criteria of Assam Navodaya Admission

District: Only the candidates from the district concerned where the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya has been opened are eligible to apply for admission.

Age Limit: A candidate seeking admission must not have been born before 1st May 2015 and after 31st July 2017 (both dates are inclusive). This will apply to candidates of all categories.

Current Study: A candidate appearing for the selection test must be studying in Class-V for the whole of the academic session 2026-27 in a Government or Government recognized school in the same district where he/she is seeking admission.

Previous Admission: A candidate who has not been promoted and admitted to Class-V before 31st July 2026 is not eligible to apply.

Attempt Limit: No candidate is eligible to appear in the selection test for the second time, under any circumstances.


What is Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test?

As we know, the seats available in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are limited. To address this issue, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti conducts a selection-based examination known as the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST). Admission to JNVs is approved by NVS based on the marks obtained in JNVST. JNVST is the primary process for admission into Navodaya Vidyalayas.


Composition of JNV Selection Test

The selection test will be of two-hour duration from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM and will have 3 sections with only objective-type questions. There are 80 questions in all for 100 marks.
