IBPS Clerk Recruitment 2026
The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has released the detailed notification for CRP CSA-XVI, the 16th edition of the Common Recruitment Process for Customer Service Associates (CSA) in 11 participating public sector banks. 11,403 indicative vacancies for the fiscal year 2027-28 are announced in the announcement, which was made on August 1, 2026. This cycle, Assam will receive 349 positions, a significant increase from the 204 positions announced for the state in the previous edition. The category-wise split for Assam is 26 posts for SC, 41 for ST, 97 for OBC (NCL), 30 for EWS, and 155 for Unreserved. Within these, 32 posts are earmarked for Ex-Servicemen, 11 for Disabled Ex-Servicemen, and 13 for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities.
Educational Qualification
Graduation: A degree in any discipline from a university recognised by the Government of India, or an equivalent qualification recognised as such by the Central Government. The final result must be declared on or before 21 August 2026, and you must hold a valid marksheet or degree certificate on the day you register. Final year students whose results are still awaited cannot apply.
Computer Literacy: Operating and working knowledge of computer systems is compulsory. Candidates should hold a certificate, diploma, or degree in computer operations, or have studied Computer Science/Information Technology as a subject in school or college.
Language Proficiency: Candidates must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the local language of the state applied for. For Assam, the language options are Assamese, Bengali, and Bodo.
Age Limit
The age of the candidate must be between 20 years and 28 years as on 1 August 2026 (born not earlier than 2 August 1998 and not later than 1 August 2006, both dates inclusive). Category-wise age relaxations apply as follows:

Selection Process of IBPS Clerk Recruitment
The selection is a two-stage online examination process with no interview round:
Stage 1: Preliminary Examination
An objective online test of 100 marks completed in 1 hour with separate 20-minute sectional timing. Candidates must clear the cut-off fixed by IBPS in every section to qualify for the Main Examination.

Stage 2: Main Examination
The Main Examination carries 200 marks for 160 questions, to be attempted in 125 minutes with sectional timing. Only the marks obtained in the Main Examination are used for preparing the final merit list.

Both stages carry a negative marking of 0.25 of the marks assigned to a question for every wrong answer.
Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT):
The Local Language Proficiency Test is conducted after the Main Examination and the provisional allotment, but before you join the bank. It is marks-based and qualifying in nature, and a candidate who fails to qualify is not offered appointment. Candidates from Assam who studied Assamese, Bengali, or Bodo in school should have that marksheet on hand so that you can be exempt from taking this test if you can show that you studied the language you chose.
