Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for MJS Grade-I must satisfy the following qualifications, experience, and age conditions:
- Educational Qualification: Must be a holder of a Degree in Law (LL.B.) from a recognized University.
- Professional Experience (Bar): Must be practicing as an Advocate in Courts of Civil and Criminal jurisdiction on the closing date and must have so practiced for a period of not less than 7 (seven) years as on that date. (Advocate includes Government Pleaders and Public Prosecutors).
- In-Service Judicial Officers: Must have completed continuous 7 years or more at the Bar before entering Judicial Service, or continuous 7 years or more as a Judicial Officer, or a combined experience of 7 years or more as Advocate and Judicial Officer as on the closing date.
- Language Proficiency: Must have sufficient working knowledge of the State Official Language (Manipuri).
- Age Limit (as on 22.09.2026): Candidate must not be below 35 years of age. The maximum upper age limits are:
- SC / ST Candidates: 50 years
- OBC Candidates: 48 years
- General / Other Candidates: 45 years

Selection Process & Examination Pattern
The select list will be prepared based on merit from the combined marks obtained in the Written Examination and the Viva-Voce/Interview.
1. Written Examination (300 Marks)
- Candidates securing 50% or more marks in the Written Examination shall be eligible for the Viva-Voce.
- Candidates may be shortlisted up to three times the number of vacancies for the interview round.

2. Viva-Voce / Interview (50 Marks)
- Knowledge of Manipur State Official Language (Manipuri) will also be evaluated during the Viva-Voce/Interview.
- Candidates securing a minimum of 40% marks in the interview shall only be eligible for inclusion in the final select list.
