The Central Recruitment Board, Civil Defence & Home Guards, Government of Meghalaya, Shillong has issued an official notification (Memo No. E.1/2026/95-A) for the enrolment of trained Home Guards Volunteers into 558 part-time posts of Guardsman and equivalent ranks (Volunteers) in the Meghalaya Border Wing Home Guards Battalion. Eligible trained volunteers domiciled in Meghalaya can submit their applications in the Prescribed Standard Form to their respective District Home Guards / Civil Defence Offices on or before 28 September 2026.

Meghalaya Border Wing Home Guards Enrolment 2026 Overview

The enrolment is conducted to deploy trained Home Guards volunteers under the ‘Wages’ Highly Skilled Category in the Meghalaya Border Wing Home Guards Battalion. The deployed personnel will be posted across border areas in Khasi, Jaintia, and Garo Hills bordering Bangladesh.

The deployment period is initially for 1 (one) year, extendable depending upon the performance of the volunteers. The engagement is voluntary and temporary in nature, carrying no claim for regular appointment or permanent absorption.


Eligibility Criteria

1. Domicile & Training Requirement:

  • Must be an Indian citizen and permanently domiciled in the State of Meghalaya.
  • Must possess a valid Home Guards Basic Training Certificate.
  • Must possess an EPIC (Voter ID) Card of Meghalaya.
  • Must possess a valid Medical Fitness Certificate issued by an authorized Government Medical Practitioner/Institution.

2. Age Limit (As on 01.09.2026):

  • The upper age limit of the applicant should not exceed 50 years as on 1st September 2026.

3. Monthly Remuneration / Honoraria:

  • Wages under the Highly Skilled Category as prescribed by the Department of Labour, Employment & Skill Development, Govt. of Meghalaya from time to time.
  • Applicable Risk Allowance as prescribed by the State Government.
Reservation Policy: State Reservation Policy / Roster is not applicable to this enrolment procedure as the deployment is purely voluntary and on a part-time basis.

Selection Process

Eligible applicants will be called for a Personal Interview conducted at two regional centres:

  • Shillong Centre
  • Tura Centre

Candidates must check the departmental notice boards and the official website (meghomeguards.gov.in) for interview dates and shortlisted lists, as no separate individual intimations will be issued. Candidates must arrange their own lodging/boarding for 2–3 days during the interview; no TA/DA will be paid.


Required Documents to Submit

The Standard Application Form must be submitted along with self-attested copies of the following certificates and testimonials:

  • 2 (two) copies of recent passport-size photographs (one pasted on the form).
  • Educational Qualification Certificates.
  • Birth Certificate or Age Certificate as per school records.
  • EPIC (Voter ID) Card of Meghalaya.
  • Home Guards Basic Training Certificate.
  • Medical Fitness Certificate from an authorized Government Medical Practitioner / Institution.
  • Valid Photo Identity Card (in original to be shown during interview).

Eligible trained volunteers must apply through the offline mode by following these steps:

  1. Obtain the Prescribed Standard Form of Application (available at local administrative offices or downloadable online).
  2. Fill in all required particulars neatly and accurately.
  3. Paste one recent passport-size photograph in the designated space on the form.
  4. Enclose self-attested photocopies of educational certificates, birth/age proof, Meghalaya EPIC card, Home Guards Basic Training certificate, and Medical Fitness certificate.
  5. Submit the completed application along with an extra passport-size photo to your respective District Home Guards Office / Officer Commanding District Training Centre / Civil Defence Office where currently registered or deployed.
  6. Ensure submission on or before the last date, 28 September 2026. Applications received after the deadline will be rejected.
